We are honoured to be launching our new £815,000 appeal to fund vital Coronavirus (COVID-19) research projects in Bristol.
In partnership with North Bristol NHS Trust, we are asking our supporters to help to fund three ground breaking research projects looking at potential new drug treatments, a deeper understanding of how the virus spreads and its long term impact on the health of people who recover from Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Our hard-working researchers here at Southmead Hospital will be working in partnership with local NHS Hospitals, Public Health England and the University of Bristol to contribute to a UK-led research programme for Coronavirus (COVID-19), which we hope will lead to new breakthroughs in fighting the virus.
“Our research is being carried out Bristol-wide, led by North Bristol NHS Trust and working in partnership with University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, and the University of Bristol. To our knowledge this is the largest single centre cohort study of hospitalised patients with COVID-19 in the UK.
“We hope to rapidly publish this work and share our results with other UK and international centres to allow wider use of successful prognostic biomarkers.
Our study could help doctors in the future decide which tests are useful in managing coronavirus and which are not.”
