We’re thrilled to offer a new, sponsored cycle challenge that connects the vibrant cities of Bristol and Swansea! This guided challenge will have you riding around 55 miles each day, showcasing many highlights along the way.
On day one, you’ll cross the Severn Bridge and pedal through the tranquil country roads of Monmouthshire, finishing at the historic Caerphilly Castle. After a restful overnight stay, you’ll continue your journey on the railway paths that wind through picturesque valleys, guiding you to the Swansea coastline. Your cycling adventure concludes with a train ride back to Bristol.
Suitable for riders aged 18 and above.
We’re offering places for a reduced price of £199 per person, when you commit to raising a minimum of £500 for Southmead Hospital Charity.
Alternatively, you may like to cover the full cost of the cycle yourself for £350 which means all the funds you raise will directly support our hospitals.
The trip requires a minimum number of cyclists to make feasible, so we ask for a £50 deposit to book your place provisionally. Once minimum numbers are reached, the charity team will contact you to confirm the trip is going ahead and take payment for the remaining balance. If minimum numbers are not reached by the end of July, your deposit will be refunded.
To provisionally book your place, please click below to complete the webform. The charity team will be in contact to take the deposit. We encourage you to read the FAQS below first.
Who is organising/running the guided cycle?
We’re pleased to be working with Dave Talbot Adventure Events again. You’ll be in good hands with Dave and his friendly, expert team over the course of the weekend. You can check out their client reviews here.
What can I expect to cycle on each day?
Day 1: 54 miles with 754m of height gain
Day 2: 54 miles with 992m of height gain
How proficient should I be at cycling, and do I need to train?
As a rough guide, you should be cycling around 11mph for 5 hours. We recommend that you undertake prior training which should start several months before the trip, allowing you to build up your regime slowly. Leaving your training last minute will not be as effective and there is more chance of injury.
What time and where does the cycle start from in Bristol?
The ride will start at 9am from Bristol Parkway Railway Station. This is the station that you will return to at the end of the ride.
What is NOT included in the package?
Your evening meal on Saturday (you can eat in a local hotel or restaurant), your bicycle and helmet and any personal spending money for drinks and snacks.
When do I start fundraising?
We politely ask that you do not start fundraising until you receive confirmation that the event is going ahead (when minimum numbers are reached). We will send you the link to set up a bespoke ‘Bristol to Swansea Cycle’ fundraising page and you’ll receive support to help you reach the target.
What happens if I do not reach my fundraising target?
We’re pleased to offer places at the reduced price of £199 and can only do so on the agreement that registrants commit to raising the minimum fundraising target (£500). If you do not reach the fundraising target by 5 November 2025, you may be required to cover the full cost of your place (£350) if you haven’t already.
If you have any questions about the event or your fundraising, please contact Hannah.
