12 Bakes of Christmas

Hold your own festive bake sale for Southmead Hospital Charity

The 12 Bakes of Christmas is a fundraising event that began at Southmead Hospital with 12 NHS staff teams each hosting a festive charity bake sale in lead up to Christmas. Now you can join staff in the festivities with our brand-new 12 Bakes of Christmas fundraising pack!

Hold a bake sale for Southmead Hospital Charity at home, work or in the community this festive season and ‘bake’ things better for patients in our hospitals this Christmas.

Fundraising pack

Choose a date, time, and place to host your bake sale and use our event poster to help spread the word. Then prepare the ingredients cards, bunting and a collection box for the big day.

Bake your favourite sweet and savoury treats (or opt for shop-bought – we won’t tell!) and sell for a donation. Pay-in your funds and use the thank you poster to celebrate all the dough you’ve raised!

You can download and print the pack by clicking on the individual fundraising materials above or you can request a pack in the form below.

FAQs

When should I hold my bake sale?

Anytime in the lead-up to Christmas! Choose a date and time that suits you. A morning to lunchtime sale is likely to be the most popular.

Where should I hold my bake sale?

You could host your bake sale with friends and family at home, with work colleagues in the office or at your school or club, with permission.

What’s in the fundraising pack?

A double-sided event and thank you poster, ingredients cards, bunting and a collection box (print as many as you need of each). We can also provide charity t-shirts and balloons, if desired.

What if I can’t print the pack myself?

No problem! We’ll print the pack ourselves and pop it in the post for you. Simply fill in the short form above and one of the team will be in touch.

Do you have any guidance around safety and hygiene?

Yes, we recommend that anyone planning to bake first reads our baking safe guidance which outlines all best practice. If in doubt, we’ll be able to advise.

Do you have any advice on allergens?

While you can inform buyers which ingredients have been used (by using the ingredients cards), there is a risk that bakes could have come into contact with allergens in the kitchen so please advise accordingly. For homemade ‘gluten-free’ items, advise low-level cross contamination could have occurred during the baking process.

How do I make the most of my bake sale?

The more bakes you have to offer, the more money you’ll raise, so recruit lots of bakers and send regular reminders. No one wants to miss out so try to cater for different dietary requirements such as vegan and ‘gluten-free’.

Think about the cost of ingredients and make sure your hard work is reflected in the price. Have a supply of cake boxes or bags on hand to encourage your buyers to take some home or buy for friends and family.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

The easiest way to pay in your fundraising is through our online check-out. Alternatively, you could send a cheque with a short cover letter to our address below or contact us for our bank details.

Southmead Hospital Charity, Kendon House, Southmead Hospital, Bristol, BS10 5NB

How will the money I raised be spent?

The simple joy of being with family on Christmas Day is a privilege that many of us take for granted. Your support will help us to save more lives and return more people home to their families this Christmas. You can find out more in our Christmas Appeal which will be launched soon.
